YW Brooklyn LEADers Shadow Capital One Associates on the Job

In June, two of YWCA Brooklyn’s YW Brooklyn LEAD 11th grade interns Brianna and Adhana had the opportunity to participate in job shadowing sessions with Capital One associates. Not only were they able to receive advice from successful professional women of color, including a Software Engineering Manager for Capital One’s Enterprise Data Machine Learning and a Senior Market Manager, learn more about career fields at Capital One, and observe meetings, but they were even invited to collaborate with the associates on their work projects. We’re grateful to Capital One and their associates for taking the time to expose Brianna and Adhana to new career pathways and inspiring them to pursue their college and career dreams.

“Thank you for helping me realize what I want to do and shall be taking the steps necessary to achieve my goals. The advice you have given me today will be remembered and definitely used in my decision making. I again want to thank you all for this experience and wish you all the best!” - Adhana

“I want to thank everyone for giving me this amazing opportunity to learn more about this career field and receive amazing advice from Mikela. Mikela, thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to speak with me and not only join but also collaborate with you on one of your projects. This was an amazing experience and one I will never forget.” - Brianna
