SUPPORT FOR IMMIGRANT FAMILIES

ESOL pic 4.jpg

YWCA Brooklyn offers the immigrant women community FREE English, citizenship and adult computer literacy classes taught by certified women teachers.

Our English as a Second Language (ESOL) classes use a workforce readiness curriculum and incorporate activities such as interviewing skills, research, resume writing and professional communications. Citizenship classes provide eligible immigrants who are eager to become American citizens with the resources they need to do so, and all participants are eligible to take free weekly onsite technology workshops providing training in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Internet navigation. In collaboration with our expert community partners, we also provide Know Your Rights legal workshops for ESOL and Citizenship class participants with referrals for confidential, free individual legal assessments, and we facilitate linkages to culturally and linguistically appropriate confidential services, including health care, case management, housing, domestic violence and entitlements.

No ID is required for YWCA Brooklyn’s classes for immigrant women. For more information, please call 718-875-1190, ext. 233 or email us at esol@ywcabklyn.org.
