National Voter Registration Day

National Voter Registration Day (NVRD) is a nonpartisan civic holiday aimed at strengthening and celebrating democracy by bringing together organizations, businesses, election officials and volunteers, community leaders, students, and individuals from across the country for a national day of coordinated outreach, digital engagement, and voter registration activities.

The YW LEADers head out into the community on National Voter Registration Day.

NVRD is our opportunity to come together across the nation for a collective call to register voters and make sure they have the information they need to participate in this year’s elections. Each year, YWCA Brooklyn participates in continuing YWomenVote and Get Out The Vote (GOTV) efforts to empower our community through civic engagement. The YW LEADers dispatched to several locations in Brooklyn distributing resources to help community members with early mail and absentee ballot applications, register or update their voter information, and share important information about when, where and how to vote — they ended up assisting over 100 people! This is what leadership looks like: young women stepping into their communities, sharing knowledge, encouraging civic participation, and helping others understand the power of their voice. At YWCA Brooklyn, we’re not just preparing girls for college — we’re developing informed, engaged leaders who understand the importance of showing up for their communities.

Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2026.
