Women's History Month at YWCA Brooklyn
As part of our Women's History Month programming, the YW LEADers were invited to meet a group of prestigious women for our Women in Law career panel. Our speakers were Keyonte Sutherland, Esq., Rodney Pepe Souvenir, Esq., and Cheryl A. Massena, Esq., who covered topics from their areas of law to navigating a career in the field.
We also created a #SheInspires campaign in collaboration with the YW LEADers. The campaign asked YW LEADers to imagine themselves as the inspiring women they looked up to and why these women have such an impact.
“Imagining myself as Malala because she represents courage, resilience, and the power of using your voice to create change. As a young girl, she spoke out for the right of girls to receive an education, even when it put her life in danger. After surviving an attack meant to silence her, she continued advocating for equal access to schooling around the world. Her work through the Malala Fund has helped amplify the voices of girls globally, and her recognition with the Noble Peace Prize shows the impact one determined person can have. Malala’s story reminds us that standing up for what is right no matter your age can inspire meaningful change worldwide.” #SheInspires Iqra, 12th Grade [first image].
