YW Brooklyn LEAD Honored at the UNFCU Foundation Gala
The UNFCU Foundation’s Program Manager Tanya Sukkari, YW Brooklyn LEAD Alumna Sabrina Moore, and YWCA Brooklyn CEO & President Martha Kamber at the UNFCU Foundation Gala
On October 23, 2025, YWCA Brooklyn’s CEO & President Martha Kamber was joined by YW Brooklyn LEAD alumna Sabrina Moore to represent our organization at the UNFCU Foundation’s gala celebrating its 10-year anniversary of rising together and empowering women. The event, held at Midtown Loft & Terrace in Manhattan, honored the YW Brooklyn LEAD program for its achievements in advancing the educational outcomes for, advancing the economic mobility of, and empowering girls and young women of color to become the next generation of leaders, and presented Sabrina with the Young Women Empowerment Award for exemplifying leadership, resilience and the spirit of women's empowerment.
Sabrina entered YW Brooklyn LEAD in 2015 while she was a student at Clara Barton High School and during her time in the program, she led projects amplifying the voices of underserved communities, including supporting survivors of sexual violence and advocating for legislation like the Safe and Supportive Schools Bill through educational panels and meetings with lawmakers at the New York State Capitol. She recently graduated New York University’s Archives and Public History program, with a focus on archival preservation and the use of historical materials for inclusive community engagement, and has remained engaged in YW Brooklyn LEAD as a role model for younger participants. Earlier this year, she was an alumna speaker for our end-of-year Passing of the Torch Ceremony, celebrating the program's most recent high school graduates. Sabrina currently works as an Archives Technician at the Wildlife Conservation Society in the Bronx Zoo.
The UNFCU Foundation has generously supported our YW Brooklyn LEAD program since 2023 and we have the shared goal of sustaining the path out of poverty for women and youth, and empowering girls and women through education so they can unleash their full potential within their community. We are grateful to have been recognized for our mission-driven work and for having the opportunity to share Sabrina’s success story with their supporters at their important event.
