Interactive Youth Summit in partnership with The Dinner Table Doc

Brooklyn Borough Hall welcomed Brooklyn girls, ages 10-18, in a partnership between The Dinner Table Doc and YWCA Brooklyn for a community-building event and discussion on the topic of navigating high school, college and beyond.

One of the flagship initiatives from The Dinner Table Doc, The Miseducation of Brown Girls, is a one-day summit and summer enrichment program designed to provide Black and Brown girls with the educational tools and community-building experiences necessary for success beyond the classroom. Rooted in civic engagement and leadership development, this transformative experience fosters confidence, critical thinking, and self-advocacy, ensuring that every participant leaves with the skills to shape their future and uplift their communities.

It was an empowering day of community and connection, and the event was featured on local news. YWCA Brooklyn looks forward to continuing a partnership with The Dinner Table Doc in service of the young women and girls of color in Brooklyn.

Thank you to our meal sponsors Golden Krust, McDonald’s, and Chick-fil-A.
