A health care crisis is looming in the United States. Forty-seven million Americans do not have access to healthcare and about 20 million are uninsured. Nearly one-third of Brooklyn residents do not have access to basic or preventative health care. The YWCA of Brooklyn partners with organization from across NYC to provide health screenings, fitness classes, and healthy living workshops in effort to reduce the incidence of heart disease, HIV/AIDS, lung cancer, obesity, and diabetes. We also provide free fitness classes onsite and throughout Brooklyn.
Our advocacy agenda includes the following healthcare items: - Improving and guaranteeing access to healthcare for all people regardless of race or orientation - Continued reproductive rights for women - Comprehensive sexual education programs for young women
