The YWCA of Brooklyn became the first YWCA in the country to racially integrate its programming in 1942. Today in the 21st century, we acknowledge that despite the fight of many, racism is alive and well. To combat racism where it exists, the YWCA has adopted an aggressive stance on racism and fully supports the regional policy agenda.
Our Racial Justice Adovacy Agenda includes: - Increasing diversity in law enforcement - Halting the unfair distribution of power, privilege, land and material goods - Exposing childhood lead poising as an issue that disproportionally affects minority children
