Equal Pay Day 2019

The pay gap affects ALL women and we’re asking NYS to prioritize equal pay for all.

This month, which marks the time of year that women’s salaries catch up to that of their male counterparts, we joined community partners PowHer NY for an #EqualPayDay rally with the purpose of prioritizing Salary History Law to ban on salary history – a practice that often leads to gender-based wage discrimination. Women, and especially women of color, historically earn lower salaries than men and relying on salary history┬áleaves women at a significant disadvantage throughout their careers.

Many members of the community came out to voice their support for prioritizing equal pay legislation alongside the Black Latino Asian Caucus, the Women’s Caucus, Public Advocate Jumaane Williams, Attorney General Tish James, the Governor’s Office, Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul, councilman Donovan Richards and more.
