With eyes shut and hearts open, the YW BK University Class of 2017 participated in an Engaging Diversity workshop to discuss privilege and oppression as they prepare for college next year. College-bound young women spent the afternoon at the YWCA Brooklyn discussing diversity and their identity as they finish high school and begin their college careers.

"As a first generation, my journey to college was tough. I was unaware of the expectations. Today I received so much knowledge, advice, and help! I will carry what I learned today forever. -Jennifer"

Shower caddy, fuzzy blanket, instant mac and cheese and family size Dove body wash. All things that can be considered daily essentials for college.

Today more people of color are making strides towards taking their potential to the next level by attending college. With the stress of financial aid, scholarships and supplement essays the last thing they should be concerned about are shower shoes and laundry detergent. This is why we gifted one lucky YWCA Brooklyn University participant with the ultimate Dorm Kit to help her through her college journey ahead.

YWCA Brooklyn believes in equipping students in both big ways and small for education success.
