Young Women’s Advisory Council of the YWCA of Brooklyn Hosts Spoken Word Event

The Young Women’s Advisory Council of the YWCA of Brooklyn proudly hosted an evening to celebrate fierce female expression in support of the mission of the YWCA of Brooklyn. Attendees of this free event were asked to bring an inspirational book by a female author, to donate to the library of the affordable housing for women program located at the YWCA of Brooklyn.

The event, titled In the Words of Women, included performances by two spoken word poets, Mariela Regalado and Parlay Living. Both women, whom are deeply involved in the community, brought a tremendous amount of energy that was equally reciprocated by the crowd. (Read more about Parlay here).

Special thanks goes out to our phenomenal performers Mariela Regalado and Parlay Living, La Flor del Paraiso for generously providing the space and a portion of all food and drink proceeds from the night, and all of those that came out to support the cause.
